DUNE: WAR OF THE SPICE UNIT DESIGNS
Although five factions were envisioned for the game, only the Harkonnen were significantly developed before the project ended. The design philosophy behind the Harkonnen utilized brtual geometric shapes, heavy metal and concrete materials, and disregard of aerodynamics in favor of the power of thrust.
The Sandworm design was innovative in the use of rotational mechanics for its movement and the twisting shape was inspired by a tree I saw at a botanical garden.
